Moon Phase Planner Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

Moon Phase Planner is a paid moon calendar and observation planning app. These details describe version 1.0.3 and later; earlier versions do not offer location-based observations or maps.

Data Collection

The developer does not operate a server that receives your location, notes, or checklists. Moon calculations run on your device. The app does not sell personal data.

Optional Location

iOS may ask for optional location permission when you first open the observation screen or choose Use current location. The app uses your precise or approximate location while it is in use, on the device, to calculate the Moon’s direction, altitude, and orientation. It does not request background location access. You can deny permission, choose a city, or enter coordinates instead. Change permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Your current GPS coordinates are not saved to persistent app storage. A manually selected place and its time zone may be saved locally so the app can restore your observation. Opening the map does not automatically send your current GPS fix to a map service.

Apple Maps and Place Search

Map display, place search, and resolving a manually selected place or its time zone use Apple services and may require an internet connection. Your search text, viewed map area, or the place you choose may be sent to Apple to provide those results. These services are subject to Apple’s privacy policy. The developer does not receive this information.

Accounts, Tracking, and Ads

Moon Phase Planner does not require an account. It does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

Device Permissions

Apart from optional location access, the app does not request access to your calendar, reminders, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera. Sharing opens the system share sheet only when you choose it. The selected date’s summary, note, and checklist can then be sent to the recipient or service you select, under that service’s privacy practices.

Local Storage

Notes, checklists, a manually selected observation place, and app preferences are stored on your device. You can edit or remove your notes and checklist items in the app and clear the chosen location from the location menu. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device; copies in device backups are managed through your Apple backup settings. The app does not provide its own account or cloud sync service.
