LAN Folder Drop Support

Share one folder with nearby browsers over your current Wi‑Fi, with an Apple system-share fallback when the network blocks device-to-device access.

Use a trusted local network. The temporary session is download-only, but LAN Folder Drop does not add transport encryption. Anyone on that network with the active link can download until you stop sharing.

Quick start

  1. Connect the sending and receiving devices to the same trusted local network.
  2. Open LAN Folder Drop and choose one folder.
  3. Review the file count, then tap Start Read-only Sharing.
  4. Scan the QR code or open the session link in a nearby browser.
  5. Download an individual file or choose the ZIP download for the whole shared folder.
  6. Tap Stop & Revoke when finished.

What the receiving browser can do

The browser can view the generated file list, download individual regular files, and download one ZIP containing the shared files. It cannot upload, rename, or delete source files. The receiving device does not need an account or an installed app.

What is excluded

Hidden files, package descendants, and symbolic links are skipped. A session supports up to 10,000 regular files. LAN Folder Drop shares only the folder you select and does not expose other folders through the session.

When the link stops working

The session ends when you tap Stop, clear the selected folder, close the app, or move it to the background. Keep the sender app open in the foreground until downloads finish.

Privacy

The browser route uses no Paran server or Paran cloud, and Paran does not collect the selected folder, file contents, session link, or transfer history. If you invoke Apple’s system share sheet, the destination you select receives the prepared ZIP under that destination’s own terms. Read the privacy policy for the exact processing and security boundary.
